“The Pink Hotel” by Anna Stothard.
After I finished this book I couldn’t resist the urge to shout “FINALLY!”
After three months of trying, I found a truly inspiring book. A great read! A book I didn’t want to give up on before it ended… (like too many I’ve tried to finish lately.)
It wasn’t inspiring in the way I’m used to defining inspiration. It didn’t teach me how to become a better person… it isn’t a self-help book.
The writing was the inspiring part. You get sucked into this story, and you never even learn the narrator/main character’s name. Somehow, the story is written perfectly so that never has a chance to bother you.
Initially, what drew me to this book was the cover, and then the quote on the front… because it was written by Anna Paquin who said “This book moved and provoked me in ways I can’t fully articulate…extraordinary.”
Since I like what I’ve seen/heard Anna Paquin in, I decided to give it a whirl. Maybe it would have similar affects on me.
This is Anna Paquin in case you don’t know her/can’t recall what she looks like. She stars in movies and the hit TV Show “True Blood”- and probably lots of other cool stuff.
Sure enough, I started reading it & then polished it off quicker than any other book thus far in 2015.
I think I read it all in 10 days.
I swear, it used to be a lot easier to find the time to get through a book. I think because I spent my lunch break at school and work reading, and spent a lot of time after school with my face buried in a novel.
That was before bills and obligations… those were the days! (in some ways)
Maybe it would be best to devise a system of reading, until I’m back in the groove of it…
I’ve found an additional means of reading,
which my next post is about. <—-
But for now I think I’ll leave this review with a 4/5 stars on my rating system.
Would recommend it.
