I’m writing this a few minutes after finishing this movie.
My nose is still running, and my eyes sting from tears.
This movie made me cry… full-on… shoulder-shaking style crying, no less than three times.
It has been a long time since I’ve been this emotional over a movie.
Certainly, I have become more sensitive in recent years.
I am the type of person whose eyes well up over certain commercials.
Without fail, I used to cry during every episode of that reality television show “Extreme Makeover, Home Edition.” Music has the ability to make me cry. Certain movies too.
Luckily, I am not a constant, overflowing well of tears… I don’t cry too often over life’s daily encounters…
Whether they are happy or sad…
This movie though… it really touched me.
Maybe I was in need of a good cry, or maybe not.
Regardless of the reasons for being overcome with emotion, I am really happy I was, and happy to have seen this movie.
“Letters to Father Jacob” is in Finnish, with English subtitles.
It’s only 1 hour and 9 minutes long… and I do believe I was crying for at least 15 of those minutes.
I recommend checking it out. I don’t want to say too much about it, other than that.
Here is the trailer…
If you decide to watch it, or if you’ve already seen it, I would like to hear your thoughts on it.
I rate it highly.
