I went to the library again today. That’s how I know things are different this time. By 9am I was already itching to drop in, but after checking their hours online I knew I had another hour to wait for them to open.
I pulled up to the library and was surprised to see there was a long line of people waiting. The parking lot was nearly full! There were like 50 people in line. You would have thought it was a rock music venue or something the way they were lined up.
Yesterday was Martin Luther King day, so banks, post offices, and libraries were closed.
So anyway, maybe I should not have been so surprised.
Two movies that I had put on hold (online!) were available for pick up (the library texted me to tell me so!). I heard about these movies because their trailers were on a previous movie I rented from the library (the myth of the American sleepover, as stated in my previous post). I’m looking forward watching both of these movies. “Desert Flower” and “Life in a Day.”
I watched Desert Flower.
Good movie. It’s a little over two hours long. I found it far more intense than the trailer suggested. It had a purpose. Desert Flower extensively discussed the horrible female genital mutilation that still occurs in Africa. Much more than an inspiring story about a beautiful girl who survived and became a famous model (Waris Dirie). 😦
I’m ready to watch the other movie soon.
I also picked up an audio book thanks to the recommendation of another blogger (thank you Claudia McGill) it’s kind of a choose your own adventure story by Neil Patrick Harris. I figure that should be entertaining.
